6 Things Your Body Loses In September, And What Puts Each One Back

There is a version of autumn that everybody likes. The light gets better, the training gets easier, the first cold morning feels like a reset rather than a loss. Nobody is arguing that September is bad.
But something does change in that window, and it is not just the weather or the calendar filling up. 2. Daily Light, And The Sleep Timing It Sets
The largest of the six, and the one people most reliably misattribute. Falling asleep is triggered by a natural drop in core body temperature, and your daily light exposure is what sets when that drop happens. Both change in the same eight weeks. You lose roughly four hours of usable outdoor light a day and you lose it gradually, which is exactly why it does not feel like a cause.
So in November, when sleep is worse, the workload gets the blame. The workload is usually not innocent. It is also usually not the mechanism.
Heat before bed followed by cooling may support deeper sleep, and a session acutely raises growth hormone. On the light side, red and near-infrared wavelengths are absorbed by mitochondria and help cells produce more energy.

Training usually survives September. Incidental movement does not. The walk that happened because it was pleasant outside, the long way round, the standing about: none of that was on a plan, which is why none of it gets rescheduled when it disappears.
Heat makes your heart work in a way that resembles light exercise. Heart rate climbs, blood vessels widen, blood-plasma volume expands, and repeated over time this is associated with improved vessel flexibility. What is the difference between far infrared, near infrared and red light?
Yes. This model uses the same far infrared heater layout as our 2 Person Far Infrared Sauna, with the red light and near infrared panel added on the front wall. On the panel you can run red light, near infrared or both, with the far infrared heaters on or off. You can also remove the panel, drop in the included glass panel, and use the light outside the cabin while the sauna stays fully functional.
Do I still need a separate red light panel?
No. The panel in the RL2 is 42.5 by 12.5 inches with five wavelengths at 630, 660, 810, 830 and 850 nm. It can also be removed and used outside the cabin, with an included glass panel taking its place so the sauna still works.
How hot does it get, and do I need to sweat for it to work?
Infrared cabins typically run between 110 and 150°F, well below a traditional sauna. Sweat is one output rather than the measure of a session. Several of the associated effects relate to the cardiovascular response to heat rather than to sweat volume.
How often should I use it?
The research is dose-dependent, so frequency matters more than intensity. Four to seven sessions a week is the range associated with the strongest findings in the population studies. Most people start at three and settle where their week allows.
Will it fit in my house?
The RL2 is 47.2 inches wide by 41.3 deep by 75 high, with a two inch gap recommended around it. If your ceiling is standard and a doorway is 30 inches or wider, it usually fits. A specialist will check your measurements before you order.
Do I need an electrician?
Usually not. The sauna runs on a standard US three-prong outlet with a dedicated 15A circuit recommended. The red light panel plugs in separately to any standard outlet. Running both at once requires a 20A circuit, which is the one thing worth checking before you buy.
What are the EMF levels, and who tested them?
EMF below 2 mG and ELF below 7 V/m, with grounded heaters, Faraday shielding and no RF. Independently tested and verified by Primary Environmental. We do not use the phrase "EMF-free," because it is not a testable statement, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does.
What does off-gassing actually mean, and how would I check?
When materials are heated they release volatile compounds. In a sauna the usual sources are adhesives, plywood binders, stains and plastic components, and heat accelerates the release. To check any manufacturer: ask what holds the panels together, whether it is solid wood or plywood, what the finish is, and what the small parts are made of. Specific answers are a good sign. "Safe materials" is not an answer.
