Many customers ask about exact heat-up times and maximum temperatures. Here's why those numbers vary—and why they matter less than you might think.
Why we don't list specific max temperatures
Your sauna's ambient temperature and available power draw significantly impact both heat-up time and maximum temperature—factors outside our control. More importantly, focusing on "max temp" misses how infrared therapy actually works.
How to use your sauna effectively
Get in when the sauna reaches 90-110°F and enjoy your session as it continues heating. This keeps the heaters running continuously, maximizing your infrared exposure. If you wait until it hits your target temp, the heaters will cycle on and off throughout your session, reducing therapeutic benefit.
Tip
Listen for a small "click" sound—this tells you when heaters are cycling on or off as they reach the set temperature. Don't touch heaters to check.
Infrared vs Traditional Heat
With traditional Finnish sauna research making headlines, it's natural to wonder how infrared compares. The short answer: they're different modalities with different benefits—not better or worse, just different.
Why people fixate on temperature: Recent Finnish research (using traditional heaters at 176-194°F) has driven massive interest in sauna therapy. Naturally, people assume they need those exact temperatures. But infrared heat is fundamentally different.
Intensity
Infrared heat is more intense than traditional heat at the same temperature. It penetrates tissue more deeply, while traditional heat works primarily through hot air.
Research application

We bought the two person Heavenly Heat Sauna because we wanted the benefits of Infrared heat and the red light therapy as well. My son had a heart attack 13 years ago at age 48 and had stents at that time. In September, 2021, he had open heart surgery. It was "successful"; but, he's had heart pain all these years! I was hoping this sauna would prove to be good for his heart and his wife and me and my friend, too. It's taken several months, but, he recently told me he's feeling the improvement in his heart! He looks healthier, too! After all these years of prayers and worry, it's such a blessing to finally know he's doing better. I'm 84 years old and my friend and I use it together at 115 degrees for 30 minutes nearly every day. It took me a couple of weeks to have my body learn to sweat! I grew up in a world that told me women shouldn't sweat - so, I didn't! Now, I do and find I'm I feel better for it. My stepdaughter visited recently and she used our machine as often as she could. We’re absolutely enjoying our HH sauna everyday here in Brisbane, Australia. Smooth order process, arrived within 3 weeks or so of ordering, and went together easily with 2 people.
We opted to put it outside given the relatively mild climate in Brisbane - it’s under cover, and we had a custom sauna cover made to fit to keep critters off the roof.
