Standards used as benchmarks

Field Standard Benchmark level
Electric field (E-field) IEEE Std C95.6-2002 5,000 volts per meter (V/m) RMS at 60 Hz
Magnetic field (B-field) EN 55035:2017 1 A/m (12.57 mG RMS)

IEEE Std C95.6-2002 sets maximum permissible exposure levels for human exposure to low-frequency electric and magnetic fields. Its 5,000 V/m RMS at 60 Hz is the benchmark for the electric field readings.

For magnetic fields, Vitatech used the 1 A/m (12.57 mG RMS) criterion from EN 55035:2017. Both are voluntary benchmarks: the report notes they are not subject to United States regulations or laws for maximum permissible exposure to 60 Hz fields.

How the sauna was tested

Vitatech recorded alternating current (AC) electric and magnetic fields to verify the maximum EMF exposure for someone inside the sauna. Readings were taken at four points inside the sauna, plus an ambient reading with the sauna off and unplugged.

  1. Point 1

    Seated user position

Meter placed where the sauna occupant sits, measuring EMF and ELF exposure at the point of primary human contact during normal sauna use.

  2. Point 2

    At the heater grate (contact)

Meter placed directly at the surface of the heater grate, capturing peak field levels at the source.

  3. Point 3

2 to 3 inches from the heater grate

Meter placed 2 to 3 inches away from the heater grate, measuring how the field drops off close to the heater surface.

  4. Point 4

    Near the roof cap (interior)

Meter placed near the roof cap inside the sauna, capturing any field concentrations at the upper interior of the unit.

The Lab’s Conclusion

Below both benchmarks, inside the sauna and next to the panel

“The average values recorded within the Heavenly Heat 2 Person Far Infrared Sauna are below the EN 55035:2017 standard of 1 A/m (12.57 mG RMS) for 60 Hz magnetic fields. Furthermore, the recorded electric field strength is less than the recommended IEEE standard 95.6:2002 of 5,000 V/m for whole body exposure.”

The red light panel report reaches the same conclusion for the Heavenly Max Red Light Panel.

Before You Buy

Four questions that separate proof from claims

Ask them of any sauna brand, including us.

  • 01

Will you show me the full lab report, not just a number?

A single figure on a page is a claim. A signed independent report is proof.

  • 02

Do you publish the electric field, or only the magnetic one?

A sauna gives off both. Most brands quietly leave the electric field off the page.

  • 03

    Where was the reading taken?

A number measured a few feet from the heater looks lower than one taken at the heater itself. Ask for the position.

  • 04

    How recent is the testing?

Materials and heaters change. Ask for the report date.

About the Independent Lab

Vitatech Electromagnetics LLC

Vitatech Electromagnetics is a woman-owned engineering firm specializing in electromagnetic interference (EMI) engineering and shielding, and has been an industry leader for over 25 years. It is the same lab other leading sauna brands use for their EMF testing.

Heavenly Heat commissioned the testing. Vitatech carried it out, wrote the reports and signed them.

FAQ

EMF testing questions and answers

Straight answers, taken from the reports.

What EMF levels were measured inside the Heavenly Heat infrared sauna?

At the seated position, Vitatech measured a magnetic field of 0.815 mG and an electric field of 0.97 V/m. The highest electric field anywhere inside the sauna was 12.98 V/m, near the interior roof cap. Every point is below both benchmarks used in the report.

Is the Heavenly Heat sauna low EMF?

Yes. The highest magnetic reading, 0.815 mG at the seated position, is about 15 times below the 12.57 mG benchmark. The highest electric reading, 12.98 V/m near the roof cap, is about 385 times below the 5,000 V/m benchmark.

Which models were tested?

The Heavenly Heat 2-Person Far Infrared Sauna and the Heavenly Max Red Light Panel. The results on this page apply to those two products as tested in July 2026.

What did the test find for the red light panel?

At about 6 inches from the panel surface, the Heavenly Max Red Light Panel measured 2.21 V/m for the electric field and 0.474 mG for the magnetic field, both below the benchmarks.

Who tested the sauna, and is the lab independent?

Vitatech Electromagnetics LLC, an independent electromagnetic engineering firm, carried out the testing and signed the reports. Heavenly Heat commissioned the study. Vitatech also tests for other sauna brands.

Where inside the sauna were the measurements taken?

At four points: the seated user position, directly at the heater grate, 2 to 3 inches from the heater grate, and near the roof cap inside the sauna. An ambient reading was also taken with the sauna off and unplugged.

Which standards were the readings compared against?

Electric fields were compared against IEEE Std C95.6-2002 (5,000 V/m RMS at 60 Hz). Magnetic fields were compared against the 1 A/m (12.57 mG RMS) criterion from EN 55035:2017.

What frequency range did the test cover?

The electric field sensor (Narda EHP50F) covered 10 to 1,000 Hz. The magnetic field sensor (Sensys FGM3D Magnetometer) covered 10 to 3,000 Hz.

What was the ambient EMF level with the sauna switched off?

With the sauna off and unplugged, Vitatech recorded 0.15 V/m and 0.275 mG.

What do mG and V/m mean?

mG (milligauss) measures the strength of a magnetic field; 1 mG equals 0.1 microtesla. V/m (volts per meter) measures the strength of an electric field. Both are reported as RMS values, an average of the alternating field.

Are these EMF limits required by United States law?

No. The report notes that these guidelines are not subject to United States regulations or laws for maximum permissible exposure to 60 Hz fields. They are used as voluntary benchmarks.

Can I read the full EMF report?

Yes. Both signed Vitatech reports are shown in full at the bottom of this page, and you can open each one as a PDF.
