Electrical Requirements

Each sauna model has specific electrical requirements based on its size, heating capacity, and overall power consumption. To ensure safe installation and optimal performance, please review the electrical specifications for your selected model below. These guidelines will help you determine the appropriate outlet type, circuit requirements, and any necessary electrical upgrades prior to installation.

Definitions

Outlet / Socket / Receptacle: The wall connection point where the sauna's power cord is plugged in.

Circuit: The electrical wiring that runs from the outlet, through the walls of the home, and back to the home's electrical panel (breaker box). In many homes, multiple outlets - often within the same room or across several rooms - may share a single circuit and breaker.

Dedicated Circuit: An electrical circuit designed to power a single appliance only. A dedicated circuit connects to one outlet and has its own individual breaker within the home's electrical panel.

Information for all sauna models

The sauna must be connected to a dedicated electrical circuit while in use. A dedicated circuit generally means one of the following:

  • The circuit powering the sauna is not being used by any other appliances or devices while the sauna is operating; or
  • The circuit is specifically designed for a single appliance and has its own dedicated breaker within the home's electrical panel.

Any required electrical modifications or upgrades must be completed by a qualified, licensed electrician. Failure to comply may result in safety hazards and may void the sauna warranty.

The sauna power cord is located in the roof cap and measures approximately 13 feet in length. For ease of installation and accessibility, the electrical outlet should be positioned so it can be reached without moving the sauna.

The use of an extension cord, surge protector, or GFCI outlet is not recommended, as these devices may interfere with the sauna's performance and safe operation.

ECO and BOX Saunas

In most homes, no electrical modifications are required to operate these sauna models. Standard household circuits are typically either:

  • 120V / 15 Amp with 14-gauge wiring, or
  • 120V / 20 Amp with 12-gauge wiring.

Either of these standard household circuits will accommodate these sauna models when connected to a dedicated circuit during operation. The required outlet is a NEMA 5-15R.

1 Person and 2 Person Saunas

These sauna models are compatible with standard household electrical service and typically do not require electrical modifications for installation.

While these models can operate on a 120V / 15 Amp circuit, a 120V / 20 Amp dedicated circuit with 12-gauge wiring is recommended for optimal performance and reliability.

These models require either NEMA 5-15R or a NEMA 5-20R outlet.

2 Person Red Light Sauna

This sauna is equipped with two standard household plugs (NEMA 5-15): one for the infrared heating system and one for the red light panel. To safely power both components, either two separate NEMA 5-15 dedicated circuits (not outlets) are required, or both plugs may be connected to the same dedicated 120V / 20 Amp circuit.

3 Person Sauna

This sauna model requires a 240V / 20 Amp dedicated circuit for operation. A qualified, licensed electrician will be required to install the appropriate circuit and outlet prior to or after installation.

Please contact our team to confirm the correct outlet configuration for your specific sauna model, as there are two possible outlet types depending on the electrical version of the sauna.

4 Person Red Light Sauna

This sauna model requires a 240V / 30 Amp dedicated circuit for operation. A qualified, licensed electrician will be required to install the appropriate circuit and outlet prior to installation.

2 Person Combination & 2 Person Outdoor Saunas

These saunas require two separate dedicated electrical circuits: one to power the infrared heating panels and one to power the traditional heater.

  • The infrared heating panels require a 120V / 20 Amp dedicated circuit with a NEMA 5-20 outlet.
  • The traditional heater requires a 240V / 30 Amp dedicated circuit and must be hardwired by a qualified, licensed electrician.

Traditional Sauna

This sauna requires two separate dedicated electrical circuits: one to power the lighting system and one to power the traditional heater.

  • No electrical modification is required to operate the lighting system. A standard household circuit of 120V / 15 Amp with a NEMA 5-15 outlet is required.
  • The traditional heater requires a 240V / 30 Amp dedicated circuit and must be hardwired by a qualified, licensed electrician.
